Evaluation of Inverted Flap technique in treatment of patients with Macular Hole referred to Imam Khomeini hospital

Abstract: The inverted ILM flap method is an accepted technique for the treatment of macular whole disease that has been proven effect in other countries.

Methods: To evaluate the functional and anatomical results of inverted flap surgery in West Iranian patients with stage 4 macular hole .

Results: 19 patients with macular hole disease referred to Imam Khomeini Hospital in Kermanshah were operated by a fixed ophthalmologist using inverted flap technique. Visual outcomes including visual acuity, percentage of macular hole closure, and choroidal thickness changes were measured at the nasal and temporal levels before, 1, 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively.

Conclusion: The Inverted ILM flap technique is very effective in the treatment of macular hole and gives very good visual results.
